Festival Season 101

Let’s just put this out there:
GO BIG OR GO HOME this year! This is the year of great festivals and if you’re not planning on going to one (or eight) of them, then you should definitely change your mind! Music is life, dude. And it’s so much better live!

Festivals are so much fun, and a chance to express your crazy side! You see everyone at coachella with the crazy outfits/hair/and makeup and wonder, how can I look like that at a festival?! Well, let me help you with some inspiration!

HAIR //

Ask your stylist (or come to me at my salon) and ask for Redken City Beats color to add some pop to your every day look! They have all kinds of beautiful colors that don’t last too terribly long so that you can go back to work the next week looking like your professional self.

Glitter, glitter, GLITTER. It’s everywhere!! My absolute fav right now is glitter from Glitter Injections!

Check out Forever 21, Tillies and Pacsun for some festival vibe clothes. Or, get them online for cheap like me! I order a lot off of the Wish app and the Wanelo app. They take a little longer to ship so order in plenty of time! Also, if you want it quicker, try Amazon Prime! It’s my jam!

Amazon, amazon, amazon…
Get your nails done right beforehand so you don’t have to worry about them.
Eyelash extensions are the bomb because you don’t have to worry about wearing a ton of makeup at the festival.
Bathing suits for clothes is OKAY. It’s too damn hot to dress up in bellbottoms and bell sleeve tops.
Practice your braids with friends!

I can’t wait to share my own festival looks with you all! Comment below with any questions!

Vday Baby!

Hey guys!

It’s that time of year again: Single Awareness Day! ….er I mean, Valentine’s Day!

There is always SO much stress put on to Vday. I mean, you should love your significant other just as much every other day, but this day is the day to get them gifts to show your love and appreciation for them. And above all, it’s just tradition and a holiday, so we might as well partake and enjoy it! As I did last year, I’ll share some helpful tips on how to score this Vday:

First things first —
• If your girl says she doesn’t like flowers… she’s lying. EVERY girl will appreciate getting flowers. Especially if you send them to her workplace so show off in front of her coworkers. Bonus points! Find a cheap place that delivers flowers, get a dozen red roses and boom. Done.
• OR, get her a plant that will last. Like a succulent or a cactus.

• Now, if she tells you that she’d RATHER have chocolate than flowers? Then she’s telling the truth. If you showed up at my door with an Edible Arrangment or any kind of chocolate covered fruit, I would be ecstatic. (If you’re on a budget, buy strawberries and chocolate fruit dip at Kroger and make them together!)
• Next, stop playing modest and go get some lingerie. Victoria Secret will never fail you. If you pick out something that YOU like, she will be more willing to wear it for your enjoyment. If you totally can’t wrap your head around doing it, buy her a $50-$100 gift card and you all can go together to pick something out. (budget: go to yandy.com to pick out something on the cheap)

• Search for events happening on Vday. Concerts, comedy shows, Theater performances, arts & crafts, dancing, etc… You’ll seem creative and adventurous.

• Speaking of adventurous, BOOK A TRIP TOGETHER! That is one heck of a gift. Book a short cruise, they’re really not that expensive. Take a trip somewhere close by-ish at a cabin or beach, whichever is closer to you. Rent a local Airbnb or fancy hotel room for the night.

• Get her a subscription – for example:
Her fav magazine

Tanning membership

Birchbox (rando products and things)

Bootay Bag (monthly undies / Instagram: bootaybag_)

Not necessarily a subscription, but a massage or facial package

• Some of the above can be for both.
• Get him tickets to his fav sports team
• Buy him his favorite candy but don’t you dare get him a teddy bear to go with it….

• A massage or couple’s massage
• a nice  watch, suit, tie, jacket or shoes he’s been wanting
• lottery tickets
• book a trip for Him!
• surprise him with YOUR choice of lingerie. He’s going to love it no matter what.

• Get him his fav alcohol and mixer, decorate it if you wish. (Pinterest has some good ideas)
• Get him a box of chocolates, eat the chocolates, then fill the box with mini alcohol bottles
• Get him a virtual reality set
• A beer cap collector shadow box
• Vday boxers from Target of American Eagle
• take him to a brewery and let him take samples or do a tour

Other than your birthday suit… Here’s some places to shop:
• Forever 21

• H&M

• Express

• Blush Boutique

• Windsor

• Ross! (super cheap but great dress selection)

• TJMaxx

• super cheap and quick? Amazon Prime.

• Follow @bybrookelle on Instagram and check out her makeup looks. She is Amazeballs.

• Try a sultry dark lip this vday, and go softer on the eyes with some false lashes to play them up. It makes you look mysterious and seductive.

• You can stick with a classic red lip, just make sure it’s more of a crimson or wine red rather than fire engine red

• treat yo’ self

• buy bubble bath soaps or bath bombs

• get your fav wine or drink

• buy your own damn chocolates or ice cream

• make your dog/cat your valentine

• go to Target and buy little knick knacks from the dollar isle

• redecorate. that always makes me happy

• cook yourself a great meal or order takeout

• binge watch netflix

• spend time with another single friend of yours

• DONT go on a Tinder date

• delete your Tinder anyway

Regardless, it’s just a Tuesday. Make it fun or just chill out! My dog and I are gonna eat Chinese takeout and binge watch netflix and we’re going to love every minute of it. Happy Vday!

Gotta keep motivated and inspired!! I’m in LOVE with these looks!

Try something new this month! A new makeup look, a new outfit trend or a new hairstyle. Maybe even some new decor to spice up your life a little. Have more fun with your style!

Happy Wednesday!

4 Ways to Fishnet // Pt. 4!

4th and final look inspo to rock some fishnet with your favorite ‘fits! Well, it’s not really the last way… there’s tons of ways to wear them. With this particular look, I paired them with a thick, flared sleeve sweater I got from forever 21. It’s so comfy! and I decided on shorts to show off the fishnets, but since it’s getting colder, wear them with some ripped denim and booties.
Fashion is getting super grungy right now and I’m so totally on board with it. I love being able to dress like a punk, listen to some metal, but fix up my hair and makeup just to confuse people of who I really am… guess we may never know! My style changes all the time! Stay tuned for some new looks to come. Hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving!!

Beauty Secrets Revealed!

All Photos // Power & Influence Photography

So I’m not quite sure why I haven’t done this yet, but I figured that I would update everyone on some amazing products that I’ve been using that have been saving my life! I don’t spend a crap ton of money to get the best of the best quality stuff, but I do use things that WORK. If I could walk around every day without any makeup or without doing anything to my hair, I would. But, I work in the beauty industry, so that can’t really happen. So, I’m going to share with you my top BEAUTY SECRETS! Cheap, easy and hella good products:

1 // Alright, everyone likes Kylie Jenner lips, but if you’re like me, you can’t afford to pay for injections and don’t want to accidentally end up looking like a duck… so I purchased this little tool that enhances my lips just enough without looking like I tried too hard. It’s called Fullips. A little suction cup that you use for about 30 seconds, lip line, lipstick and go. I’m completely in love with it!
To go with the lips, I’ll share some of my favorite lipsticks/liners:
NYX // Euro Trash Matte Lipstick

Kat Von D // Bow N Arrow

NYX // lingerie LIPLI 12 Exotic

Youngblood lip liners + chapstick.

2 // One thing that I have started to splurge on is lash extensions. My lashes are already long-ish, but they grow straight out of my head and I have to curl them and get them out of my eyeballs all day. With extensions, I never have to curl them at all or even wear mascara. it’s amazing and so convenient! I get them done at LW Boutique Salon.

3 // As for more makeup, this one has been huge for me, my concealer! I used to have terrible acne and the scars left from it has haunted me for years. It completely covers and blemishes I have but still lets me see my freckles. it’s perfect! It’s called Hard Candy – Glamoflauge. It’s also only found at Walmart and for only $6.00!

4 // For my brows, I use Youngblood’s Brow Artist pencil. It goes on lightly so that you can build on it. Get them brows on fleek, ladies!

5 // My favorite favorite bronzer is the Anastasia bronzer pressed powder pallet. It has options for highlighters and bronzers and is great on my skin! Totally head over heels about it.

6 // For nails, I shellac my own nails with CND Shellac polish and a curing machine, so I don’t typically get them done because I can do them myself. Holla!

7 // Now, for hair, I’m a blonde fanatic, so I have to use the best shampoo and conditioner on my hair. I work at a Redken and Pureology salon, and my favorite one to use is Pureology’s Strength Cure. It keeps my hair so soft, shiny and insanely healthy. I also use Redken’s Anti-Snap split end treatment for my raggedy ends that I never cut…

8 // Now, I’ve mentioned this one before, but my perfume…. is definitely the biggest compliment I get. I use Y’ves Saint Laurent Black Opium. It’s dark, tempting and I always get compliments from men on this! They lika da Black Opium.

9 // My tattoos are honestly a big part of me (obviously they are permanent) but they also all have such significant meaning to me. They are a part of what makes me feel beautiful in my own way. I get them done at Safe House Tattoo Studio by Zane Pendergast. He is AMAZING.

10 // Soaps. I love soaps. I use Philosophy Soaps from Ulta. They have so many yummy scents that I buy multiple and switch them up! It says you can use them for shampoo and a bubble bath, but I wouldn’t recommend using them for shampoo… just enjoy your bubble bath.

Alrighty, that’s all my secrets for now until I find new gems. Happy Wednesday!

Fall Do’s and Dont’s

With the first official day of Fall coming up tomorrow, I decided to do a little inspo post on all things Fall! I also want to keep everyone in the loop of the trends that will be going on this season. A lot has changed this year, and I’m totally digging it. Autumn has taken on a new perspective. So, I feel that it is my duty to inform you of your Fall Do’s and Dont’s. Now, granted, these are all my opinion and partially based on facts of trends. Just tryin’ to help a girl out:

First off, hair //

I’m a hairstylist and makeup artist, so I always have to keep myself up to date on the hottest looks. Most people have transformed from high maintenance color to softer, more natural lived-in color. And for Fall colors, most people are steering clear of bright reds and coppers. Instead, they’re going for more caramel/beige tones and my newest favorite, rose gold! Rose gold or, in my words “Rose-hold the gold” (the ashier baby pink) are so hot right now! I’ve even recently put some in my own hair.

Makeup //

Like I said before, most people are chilling out and going for a more natural-beauty look. Listen, I don’t always like to go anywhere without makeup up, but there’s ways to look like you’re not so done up while still doing minimal work. Just don’t try so hard. There’s a fine line between an everyday contoured bronze and drag makeup… Here’s your key: brows, lashes and lips are your most important features to focus on. Winged eyeliner used to be my jam, but now I only wear shadow most of the time. Get yourself a nude eyeshadow pallet, a little bronzer and a good lipstick. Voilà!

Nails //

Okay… this one is hard for me because I’m a black on black on black person. But, I love to recommend these colors for others. Bright colors are out, buh-bye! Soft rosey tones and softer gem tones are great for the season. Or if you’re soul is as dark as mine, just paint them black…

Fashion //

I’ll say it again, c a s u a l . Dressing down is the new dressing up. Especially when it starts to get chilly outside, you’ll just want to be comfy. But here are some ways to look comfy without looking homeless. No sweats and Ugg boots, please…. Also, most women are leaning toward shorter boots and booties rather than tall boots. Tall boots make your legs appear shorter, while shorter boots give you legs for days. And the blanket scarves? Don’t jill yourself trying to figure out how to fold that bitch without looking like it swallowed you. Just go with neutral colors, soft and simplistic.

Home Decor //

Don’t go grandma style and decorate every single corner in your entire house in gaudy bright oranges. Please, no. Neutral people, neutral. If you’re not a big decorator, hit up Target’s dollar isle. They have all kinds of cute little knick-knacks for super cheap. Look for the white/peach/light green pumpkins for decor. I always get mine at Gentry’s Farm in Franklin, TN. I like the tiny ones, too, because they’re easier to decorate with. Here’s some ideas!

Happy Fall, y’all!

Crazy 4 Cranford

I’m dedicating this blog post to my stunningly beautiful sister and my amazing new brother in celebration of their marriage this past Saturday! Shelby and Adam have a love like no other, and I hope I find one like theirs one day.
The wedding was great, and literally crazy at the same time. Their hashtag for the wedding festivities was #crazy4cranford, and it turned out to be pretty fitting.

We made all of our bridesmaids and the bride gorgeous, drank many mimosas, danced around the immaculate bridal suite, and took what I know will be stunning photos. (I’ll have to share when I receive them from the photographer!) Then, just as the wedding was about to start, here come the dark clouds…. we ended up starting the ceremony a little early to avoid the giant storm a’brewing. The wind was crazy, a tree limb fell and I think something hit me in the back of the head, but nothing was more priceless than that moment. Adam balled his eyes out upon seeing my stunning sis walk down the isle. (also priceless) and just the look in their eyes made every crazy minute so worth it. They were even lucky enough to take photos after the rain had revealed a double rainbow. Rumor has it that it’s good luck for it to rain on your wedding day… let’s hope so! We then proceeded to dance our pants off at the reception, eat tons of cake and partake in many shots of tequila. We sent them out with sparklers and they lived happily ever after. Well, obviously, because now they’re in St. Lucia for the honeymoon. I can’t wait for them to get back!!

Congrats to the newlyweds, Mr. and Mrs. Cranford! Love you both to pieces!
