Festival Season 101

Let’s just put this out there:
GO BIG OR GO HOME this year! This is the year of great festivals and if you’re not planning on going to one (or eight) of them, then you should definitely change your mind! Music is life, dude. And it’s so much better live!

Festivals are so much fun, and a chance to express your crazy side! You see everyone at coachella with the crazy outfits/hair/and makeup and wonder, how can I look like that at a festival?! Well, let me help you with some inspiration!

HAIR //

Ask your stylist (or come to me at my salon) and ask for Redken City Beats color to add some pop to your every day look! They have all kinds of beautiful colors that don’t last too terribly long so that you can go back to work the next week looking like your professional self.

MAKEUP //

Glitter, glitter, GLITTER. It’s everywhere!! My absolute fav right now is glitter from Glitter Injections!

OUTFITS //

Check out Forever 21, Tillies and Pacsun for some festival vibe clothes. Or, get them online for cheap like me! I order a lot off of the Wish app and the Wanelo app. They take a little longer to ship so order in plenty of time! Also, if you want it quicker, try Amazon Prime! It’s my jam!

ACCESSORIES //

Amazon, amazon, amazon…
Get your nails done right beforehand so you don’t have to worry about them.
Eyelash extensions are the bomb because you don’t have to worry about wearing a ton of makeup at the festival.
Bathing suits for clothes is OKAY. It’s too damn hot to dress up in bellbottoms and bell sleeve tops.
Practice your braids with friends!

I can’t wait to share my own festival looks with you all! Comment below with any questions!

What’s Super Cool for Spring

We are finally entering into SPRING! Thank the lort.

I’ve been creepin’ on Instagram and Pinterest lately to find out what’s IN for Spring this year! I’m so excited for Spring fashion and all Summer adventures to come. Here’s the hot stuff this month:

HAIR //
Texture, texture, texture! You almost want that “I just rolled out of bed” look. (which luckily I do everyday) Also, if you’ve got natural wave or curls, rock them!!

MAKEUP //

Natural. Don’t cake it, don’t bake it. Don’t over due it or use too much self tanner, trust me. Dudes don’t like it. If you feel like you need a lot of eye makeup, invest in lash extensions! They make me feel like I never need that much makeup AT ALL. It’s amazing! Add a bold, warm- tone lip for Spring:

FASHION //
Everything SHEER! A woman does not have to be modest in order to be respected. Show off a little bit! But don’t get too far out of your comfort zone to where you feel hella awkward. It’s not for everyone! Also, everyone’s rocking heavy jewelry, lots of jewelry, floral and bold colors!

HATS //
You usually throw on a ballcap to cover your dirty hair on laundry/cleaning day, but now it’s fashionable! I still kind of wear it on my dirtier hair days, but I now love hats when I never used to wear them! You can get cheap ones on Amazon or grab some at PacSun, H&M or Forever 21. Going out to brunch with your girls? Hat it. Casual drinks with a friend? Hat it. Shopping at the mall? Hat it.

SHOES //
Shoe styles these days are either kept very casual or fancy smancy. I’m loving that tshirts, hats and tennis shoes are an everyday style now. Also, I love dressing up kinda fancy for no reason!

ONE PIECES //
SO. freaking. cute! Didn’t quite get your Summer bikini body ready in time? Get a cute one piece and don’t sweat it!

ACTIVITIES //
DAY DRINKING! Include brunch if you wish or skip it and get to sippin’! It’s easier to go out and drink and hang with some friends for a couple hours during the daytime than being up for all hours of the night and being hungover the whole next day. Especially now that the weather is getting nicer! Find a place nearby with an open patio and great drinks! Even maybe some games.

(Obviously, I’m obsessed with @laurajadestone and want to be her)
So here’s my lil scoop on what’s hot for this Spring! If you have any questions, please comment below! Happy Wednesday!

Black on Black on Blonde

All Photos // Power and Influence Photography

How did distressing your clothes go? Good, bad or otherwise? Hey, you never know until you try. Here I’m rocking one of my dad’s old AC/DC shirts that I cropped and chopped holes in. I made this look a little grungy because that’s how I felt that day. I also would wear it with jeans and a cardigan or with some over the knee boots!

Remember, if you ever can’t decide what to wear, ALL BLACK ALWAYS WORKS!

I’m also glad that this park let me crash and snap some photos, although I had to dodge all of the people jogging and sprinting by…. but didn’t these turn out amazing? Tyrone is my favorite photographer in Nashville! He is amazing, so if you have any photo needs, he’s your guy! I’ve posted his link above.

Luckily I’ve gotten a couple nice days in Nashville lately that I could spend outside brunching, day drinking or just hanging out. But apparently it’s supposed to snow this weekend? Our weather can NEVER make up it’s mind… I should make a post about what to do while it’s cold, but honestly I don’t like getting out in it and I’d rather cuddle and hang with my dog.
So we’ll all just have to hold on and keep anticipating Spring to come along and the warm weather stay for good! I’ve got a lot coming up that I can’t wait to share!
Ps // Happy International Women’s Day! Take time to think about a woman that inspires you and how you inspire yourself!

Have a wonderful Wednesday!

Pretty Woman gone Grunge

All Photos // Power and Influence Photography

Alright, let’s not act like you’re not obsessed with OTK boots (over the knee) and don’t know how to wear them without looking like a skank. ( We’ve all seen Pretty Woman… ) Well, you’re in luck, because I’m going to tell you.
At first it’s going to be tough because the first time you ever wear them you’ll feel weird about it. But, you’ve got to get some confidence going with them. And TRUST ME, you’ll get compliments fo sho!

So let’s go through some options, shall we?
• Cute top // jeans // OTK boots over the jeans
• bodycon dress // OTK boots // leather jacket
• long t shirt or sweater // tights // OTK boots
• romper // cardigan // OTK boots
• sweater // shorts // tights // OTK boots

Best places to get OTK boots:

Gypsy Warrior Vibes

All Photos // Power and Influence Photography

Disclaimer: sorry about the language but actually I’m not sorry.

Guys… check out these amazing photos!! Tyrone is the freaking man. He killed this last photo shoot. And this outfit? Oh my gahh. Gypsy Warrior is one of my absolute favorite clothing stores! I shop strictly online, because their shop isn’t local to me, but everything is always perfect! They also have cute little knick knacks and home decor! They really fill my edgy/punk vibes and make me feel like a total badass. If you haven’t checked them out, then you need to right meow! Every girl has a little dark side to them, might as well let it out sometimes.

I’ve also been on a crazy bomber jacket kick lately. I’m obsessed. I almost have one in every color… and I’m not exaggerating. I love this deep sage color and the subtle message on the back (insert winky emoji here) Mostly my hair will cover it, but I can always flash it at people that need it.

And let’s not act like “Not your babe” isn’t the motto of the year for like half of the women out here chillin on Earth. Or maybe it’s just me, I don’t know. Nothing makes a guy want you more than when you don’t actually want him…. haha it’s true!

I’m praising Gypsy Warrior for their amazing clothes and accessories! I can’t get enough of them! Check them out here!

Happy Wednesday, babes!

Gettin’ Grungy

I’m gonna show you how to get grunge… on the CHEAP. $$

So, it’s undeniable that the grungy fashion has made it’s way back in style. Even the girliest of girls can rock a band T, right? (…just make sure you know what you’re talking about when someone asks you about the band you’re wearing.)  Personally, I’ve always had a grunge style to me. Just ask my family… the days of my jet black hair, caked on eyeliner, scream-o and punk music. Oh yeah, it was a pretty long phase I went through. And fortunately, I grew up listening to a lot of hard rock and classic rock with my dad, so my musical influence was always on point. That’s why when I go out and get band T-shirts, I buy from the bands I actually enjoy listening to. Recently, I bought a Queen and Guns N Roses shirt, because my dad and I listened to them all the time while I was growing up. Also, Freddie Mercury is the shit and he’s always my answer to, “If you could meet one celebrity, dead or alive, who would it be?” …Freddie, duh.

Here’s the thing though… when you go to concerts, their merch is super pricey. And when you go to the mall to Urban or Forever or even H&M, those T-shirts can be expensive. Now, if you find one that you absolutely can’t live without, buy it. BUT… I recommend doing it the cheap way. I buy most of my T-shirts online from Amazon, find them at Goodwill, or run into Hot Topic because they always have a ton of band T’s and usually have a deal going on.

I like to wear my T’s as crops or oversized shirts with boots (or platforms if you’re feeling funky). If you’re wanting a crop top, order or purchase a Small, tie a knot in the front and call it a day. If you’re wanting the more current trend, just buy a Large or XL and wear a pair of shorts underneath.

Start out small; don’t go full-blown grunge on a night out with your friends and they don’t even recognize you… Start with a band T as a “going out” look. Wear it with denim jeans, black high-waisted pants or even a maxi skirt. Rock it with a pair of black boots and curl your hair with some messy texture. Then, you can slowly add on:

Add fishnets // like my last couple posts, they are HUGE right now. Don’t pay $15 for them at a retail store. Get them off of Amazon.

Thigh high boots // now, this is what I would splurge on! I get my thigh-highs from GoJane.com. They have so many to chose from. Even Forever 21 has some to offer. Don’t spend over $60, and make sure you can walk comfortably in them. (a thick heel is better than a stiletto…)

Chokers // super popular right now. Forever 21 has thousands…and they’re CHEAP. Don’t blow money on something so simple. Did you not see the girl that rocked a Nike shoelace around her neck and she got so many compliments? Hell, just do it.

Distressed Denim Jacket // since it’s now balls cold outside, you’ll need a jacket. My personal preference is a denim jacket. They block out the wind and you look cute while doing it. I got my current favorite, surprise surprise, at Forever 21. You can also get a bomber jacket, because they are hella cute and I’ll be making a post soon about that as well.

Makeup & Hair // yes, you can grunge this up as well, just don’t go goth with it… middle parts are more grunge; 90’s style, duh. Don’t make every curl perfect, just throw in some low, loose waves with a think curling wand and rough it up and tousle it with your fingers and some spray. Makeup wise: don’t do a super dark eye paired with a super dark lip paired with a grunge outfit. NO. Too much… Go for one or the other. Dark eyes — more natural lip … dark lip — more natural eye makeup.

Get yo’ grunge on, gurl.
