What’s Super Cool for Spring

We are finally entering into SPRING! Thank the lort.

I’ve been creepin’ on Instagram and Pinterest lately to find out what’s IN for Spring this year! I’m so excited for Spring fashion and all Summer adventures to come. Here’s the hot stuff this month:

HAIR //
Texture, texture, texture! You almost want that “I just rolled out of bed” look. (which luckily I do everyday) Also, if you’ve got natural wave or curls, rock them!!

Natural. Don’t cake it, don’t bake it. Don’t over due it or use too much self tanner, trust me. Dudes don’t like it. If you feel like you need a lot of eye makeup, invest in lash extensions! They make me feel like I never need that much makeup AT ALL. It’s amazing! Add a bold, warm- tone lip for Spring:

Everything SHEER! A woman does not have to be modest in order to be respected. Show off a little bit! But don’t get too far out of your comfort zone to where you feel hella awkward. It’s not for everyone! Also, everyone’s rocking heavy jewelry, lots of jewelry, floral and bold colors!

HATS //
You usually throw on a ballcap to cover your dirty hair on laundry/cleaning day, but now it’s fashionable! I still kind of wear it on my dirtier hair days, but I now love hats when I never used to wear them! You can get cheap ones on Amazon or grab some at PacSun, H&M or Forever 21. Going out to brunch with your girls? Hat it. Casual drinks with a friend? Hat it. Shopping at the mall? Hat it.

Shoe styles these days are either kept very casual or fancy smancy. I’m loving that tshirts, hats and tennis shoes are an everyday style now. Also, I love dressing up kinda fancy for no reason!

SO. freaking. cute! Didn’t quite get your Summer bikini body ready in time? Get a cute one piece and don’t sweat it!

DAY DRINKING! Include brunch if you wish or skip it and get to sippin’! It’s easier to go out and drink and hang with some friends for a couple hours during the daytime than being up for all hours of the night and being hungover the whole next day. Especially now that the weather is getting nicer! Find a place nearby with an open patio and great drinks! Even maybe some games.

(Obviously, I’m obsessed with @laurajadestone and want to be her)
So here’s my lil scoop on what’s hot for this Spring! If you have any questions, please comment below! Happy Wednesday!

Beauty Secrets Revealed!

All Photos // Power & Influence Photography

So I’m not quite sure why I haven’t done this yet, but I figured that I would update everyone on some amazing products that I’ve been using that have been saving my life! I don’t spend a crap ton of money to get the best of the best quality stuff, but I do use things that WORK. If I could walk around every day without any makeup or without doing anything to my hair, I would. But, I work in the beauty industry, so that can’t really happen. So, I’m going to share with you my top BEAUTY SECRETS! Cheap, easy and hella good products:

1 // Alright, everyone likes Kylie Jenner lips, but if you’re like me, you can’t afford to pay for injections and don’t want to accidentally end up looking like a duck… so I purchased this little tool that enhances my lips just enough without looking like I tried too hard. It’s called Fullips. A little suction cup that you use for about 30 seconds, lip line, lipstick and go. I’m completely in love with it!
To go with the lips, I’ll share some of my favorite lipsticks/liners:
NYX // Euro Trash Matte Lipstick

Kat Von D // Bow N Arrow

NYX // lingerie LIPLI 12 Exotic

Youngblood lip liners + chapstick.

2 // One thing that I have started to splurge on is lash extensions. My lashes are already long-ish, but they grow straight out of my head and I have to curl them and get them out of my eyeballs all day. With extensions, I never have to curl them at all or even wear mascara. it’s amazing and so convenient! I get them done at LW Boutique Salon.

3 // As for more makeup, this one has been huge for me, my concealer! I used to have terrible acne and the scars left from it has haunted me for years. It completely covers and blemishes I have but still lets me see my freckles. it’s perfect! It’s called Hard Candy – Glamoflauge. It’s also only found at Walmart and for only $6.00!

4 // For my brows, I use Youngblood’s Brow Artist pencil. It goes on lightly so that you can build on it. Get them brows on fleek, ladies!

5 // My favorite favorite bronzer is the Anastasia bronzer pressed powder pallet. It has options for highlighters and bronzers and is great on my skin! Totally head over heels about it.

6 // For nails, I shellac my own nails with CND Shellac polish and a curing machine, so I don’t typically get them done because I can do them myself. Holla!

7 // Now, for hair, I’m a blonde fanatic, so I have to use the best shampoo and conditioner on my hair. I work at a Redken and Pureology salon, and my favorite one to use is Pureology’s Strength Cure. It keeps my hair so soft, shiny and insanely healthy. I also use Redken’s Anti-Snap split end treatment for my raggedy ends that I never cut…

8 // Now, I’ve mentioned this one before, but my perfume…. is definitely the biggest compliment I get. I use Y’ves Saint Laurent Black Opium. It’s dark, tempting and I always get compliments from men on this! They lika da Black Opium.

9 // My tattoos are honestly a big part of me (obviously they are permanent) but they also all have such significant meaning to me. They are a part of what makes me feel beautiful in my own way. I get them done at Safe House Tattoo Studio by Zane Pendergast. He is AMAZING.

10 // Soaps. I love soaps. I use Philosophy Soaps from Ulta. They have so many yummy scents that I buy multiple and switch them up! It says you can use them for shampoo and a bubble bath, but I wouldn’t recommend using them for shampoo… just enjoy your bubble bath.

Alrighty, that’s all my secrets for now until I find new gems. Happy Wednesday!

So, do we all remember when everyone thought that those sweater dresses from high school were really attractive? Some were overly bulky, some had crazy designs and some were actually too short to call a dress… Well, go ahead and toss those, then get one of these. I got this little beauty recently from Forever 21 . The material is light and thin, but keeps you warm at the same time. I also love the look of dresses that come below the knee. It looks very classy and you avoid any Britney-getting-out-of-a-limo moments. This is a great dress to have in your Winter wardrobe! Pair it with a leather jacket or long cardigan, your favorite necklace and ankle booties (anything taller would clash with the length of the dress). I also love the camel color of the dress. Yes, I am a very neutral-tone person, but you can easily mix and match it with just about everything! This Winter won’t stop me from wearing dresses, and hopefully not you either!

Want a little tip on this hair? I’m a gal that doesn’t like my hair to be stick straight. I like a little movement, flip and style to my hair. This is a simple style that helps me to avoid old-school T Swift curls and the slick-to-my-head straight look. Here’s what you’ll need:

2″ Curling Iron || Redken Iron Shape 11 || Paddle Brush || Redken Fashion Work 12

1 || Make sure that your hair is blown dry and as smooth as possible. If you have to touch up small spots with a flat iron, it’s OK, no one’s judging.

2 || Spray Redken’s Iron Shape 11 throughout your hair, focusing more on the mid-lengths and ends. Brush through with your paddle brush to evenly disperse product. This will protect your hair from the heat of the iron and avoid crunchiness.

3 || Separate your hair into 2 sections (top/bottom). Take about 1″ – 2″ wide vertical sections, insert the curling iron about halfway to 3/4 down the section, slowly close the iron as you move down the hair strand and hold it on the ends for just a couple seconds.

4 || Let the curl down and let all of the following curls cool down before touching them. After every section is curled just on the ends and cooled, use your fingers to lightly rattle through the curl instead of brushing them out. This keeps the bend and texture to the ends without it looking so perfect.

5 || Finish with your favorite hairspray to help your style hold throughout the day. I use Redken’s Fashion Work 12, because it’s lightweight, won’t leave the hair crunchy and gives a great hold to your style.

Voila! Please remember that I AM a licensed cosmetologist based out of Franklin, TN. If you ever need any hair/makeup needs, I’m your girl!

wavey daze

Want an easy way to get those natural-looking textured waves? Just follow these three easy steps!
1 || divide your hair in half and bring it all forward so it’s easier to work with. make sure to use a heat protectant spray (I recommend REDKEN Iron Shape 11!) and spritz that all around.

2 || take your curling wand (I use my Cortex two inch full styling wand) and use it on a medium heat setting.

3 || work in sections or just pick up random pieces. the key to the textured look is when curling, make sure to leave out at least one to two inches of hair on the end. that gives the shattered texture look on the bottom.
There you have it! easy as 1-2-3!
ps: disregard the old, vulgar band t shirt…

braid daze

When will braids ever not be fun? Whether you’re 5, 15, or 50… you never have to stop doing it. Braids come in so many shapes, sizes and all kinds of crazy techniques. I stuck with a simple three-strand brand for this shoot, just to add a soft, playful feel to my look. I like my braids very messy and tousled. Let’s face it, most braids don’t stay put for long and pieces fall out. Why not just embrace it? The messier the better with me! What are some of your favorite types of braids?

sundaze || at your service

This was a wonderful wedding event that I was so honored to be a part of this past weekend. As a stylist, doing hair is my passion. I love being able to work with people, give them a style or a new look that they feel great about, be creative and express my abilities, and go out into the world and making people beautiful one head of hair at a time. I could give you a knock-out color and killer haircut, but the style is going to pull it all together and really show off the look. I always try and keep in mind the new trends in hairstyling. Braids are super hot and very popular for the Summer season. Also, many women and girls are wanting more texture in their style and less smoothness and perfection (I love both styles). The textured beach waves or bohemian waves  are one of my favorite trends. I’m just lucky that my hair does this naturally, but I’ve found many ways to recreate this style to use on all of my clients!

Are you wanting to learn new ways to style your hair? Do you need your hair done for a special event? Are you looking for the right products to help you get there?

fridaze || full bloom

It’s definitely feeling like Spring! Cherry blossoms in full bloom, their scent spreading the air and making everyone happy. I love this season. What better way to celebrate it than wearing a floral dress? This little gem was actually a Target find a couple years ago. (or targé as I like to call it) It’s very Spring and can be dressed up in many ways. Also, I’m bringing back the baby spice buns. They’re so fun!! I’ve seen a few people rock them lately and I thought, why not? I’ll help the trend! Express your fashion freedom and don’t be afraid to try things out of your comfort zone!
